Individual Management Practices

Individual Management Practices and Guides to Management Practice and Measures are summarized on spreadsheets for the categories listed below.

The applicability of the individual management practices to addressing the primary causes of non-attainment of water quality standards are identified in the alternating gray and white columns. This is not meant to be a definitive statement of the ability of any particular practice to abate a specific cause of impairment in a specific location. Rather, it is meant to serve as preliminary guidance for those considering a variety of NPS management options.

Please note that all management practices specifically delineated in the spreadsheets and/or incorporated by reference to a Management Practices Guide or set of national management measures, may be CONSIDERED for funding under Ohio EPA's Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance programs. Eligibility to apply for 319 implementation grant funds is more limited and will be determined by Ohio EPA, Division of Surface Water, Nonpoint Source Program. Details of eligibility will be available in annual Section 319 requests for proposals and application materials. Please note that 319 funds CANNOT be used, if an activity is required by an NPDES permit or in compliance with an enforcement order.

  • DRINKING WATER PROTECTION: All individual agricultural management practices designated as addressing nitrogen, bacteria, sediments, and/or pesticides are also applicable to drinking water protection, as highlighted in the agriculture link above.
